Challenge # 3: Limericks

January 23, 2012

Wikipedia says “A limerick is a kind of a witty, humorous, or nonsense poem”. They have the rhyming scheme AABBA. So here’s my best shot at witty, humorous, and nonsense poems.

There once was a dog from the beach

Some said she was always a leech

She ate all the food

Her licks were quite crude

When its her bottom she could reach.

There once was an old man from town

Who stood with his eyes to the ground

He saw a big buy

and gave a great tug

He grinned as he showed off his crown.

There once was a young girl named Lin

whose mom kept wanting her to spin.

The dress was real nice

but made her feel like ice

so she jumped up and had a jar of gin.

There once was a man who ate bread

That was all he ever got fed

His stomach did grow

His movement did slow

and yesterday he was quite dead.

There once was a guy named Thor

and sometimes he was such a bore

He wanted to fight

show people his might

Stopping a war was such a chore.
