E.M.’s Sunday Ramble Prompt 1/30/22
February 2, 2022
Took me a bit longer on this one because I was busy editing my monthly prompt the past two days. So, here ya go –
Here are the questions:
- What is your favorite genre of music? All my life I have tried to avoid this question and the next one. I am a very visual person and not a great auditory person. I can’t remember the names of artists or song titles and I can’t remember lyrics or melodies. Because of this I never had a time in my life where I just explored music to figure out what I liked and what I didn’t like. I just listened to the radio and called it good. Recently I’ve been thinking more about my relationship to auditory stimuli and have used some of my time to explore music more (thanks YT music). I guess my favorite genre would have to be Pop/Rock. Yeah it sounds weird, but it’s actually a channel on satellite radio. I made my mom listen to the channel every time I was at the wheel during our latest journey driving across the country. Thanks Mom! But, yeah it has most of my favorite tunes and lots of stuff from the 90’s and early 00’s.
- What is your least favorite genre of music? Not a huge fan of super loud heavy metal, techno, or angry rap. They just overload my senses and make me feel uncomfortable.
- What movie has a very memorable soundtrack? There are lots of single songs on movie soundtracks that have stuck with me, but if I had to pick a whole soundtrack I’d have to say “White Squall”. I’d be willing to bet that it’s not a movie a lot of people have even heard of, but it has stuck with me. The movie is about a group of teenage boys sent to learn how to be good members of society by crewing on a sailing ship. Most of the tracks are instrumental, but match so well with the scenes that I can imagine them in my head just by listening to the music. Some of the tracks make me feel lost on the ocean, while others make me feel like I could climb the highest mountains. I listen to it when I need to remind myself that it’s okay to have lots of messy emotions.
- What are three songs that gets you excited? “Can’t Stop The Feeling” By Justin Timberlake on the TROLLS soundtrack, “Roar” By Katy Perry, and “Shut up and Dance” By Walk the Moon because it just makes me happy.
- What was the last song that you listened to? Fight Song by Rachel Platten – I really like it and took the opportunity to listen to it when fellow blogger Matt D did an extended post on his Sunday Ramble answers.
