E.M.’s Sunday Ramble Prompt 2/6/2022
February 8, 2022
Here are the questions:
- Would you rather be the hero that saved the girl or the villain that took over the world? Well, usually the villain never wins, so do they actually get to take over the world in this scenario? That’s a lot of responsibility. Sometimes villains are redeemed in the end and I like that, but maybe that only happens in cartoons (yay Despicable Me). My thirst for power isn’t that strong, so I guess I’d be the hero. In truth, I’d probably save the girl and hope that no one made a big deal out of it. Everyone is a hero to someone else, and that heroism should be normalized. We need more heroes.
- Would you rather have a skin that changes color based on your emotions or tattoos that appear all over your body whenever you are dishonest? I don’t have any tattoos, but I really like the idea of creating art on your body that has meaning. I wouldn’t want art on my body as a reminder of what an awful person I am. I don’t blatantly lie very much, and mostly only do it to avoid making others feel bad or having awkward conversations. For example, when an acquaintance asks why I don’t want to go get lunch, I might say that I have a prior commitment because I don’t want to explain to them that restaurants sometimes give me anxiety (especially with COVID) and I’m already running low on my emotional energy for the day. They don’t need to know that much information about me. So, I guess colors with emotions. When I was little I would always pick mood rings in the kitschy souvenir shops. It became less fun when I got older and the only colors those rings would turn were black or yellow (cold hands) and then the ring would turn my finger green. Would it make it easier to communicate with people if they could see my emotions? Or would it make communication harder if my emotions didn’t necessarily match with what I was trying to say, or didn’t want to share my emotions? I’m thinking this idea might warrant a short story try!
- Would you rather have unlimited pizza 🍕 for life or unlimited tacos 🌮 for life? Tacos! For sure! My dad and I had a taco eating contest when I was a little kid. I’m pretty sure I gave him a run for his money, but neither of us can remember how many we ate. When I was a teenager there was a time when I made dinner each week, or at least with some frequency, and I would always make tacos. Now I want tacos! Tacos! Tacos!
- Would you rather own a key that can open any door for you or be able to visit any place you want? I believe that sometimes doors are locked for good reasons, and even if I don’t agree with them, those reasons deserve to be respected. Besides, I love to travel.
- Would you rather wake up in a dark forest or wake up on a deserted beach? Deserted beach. I grew up on the beach and I’m super comfortable there. Assuming I’m stranded there and not just out for a holiday waking up from a nap, I’m pretty sure I could figure out how to feed, water, and shelter myself in either, but being comfortable somewhere makes hard choices easier.
